Why Give?

Giving selflessly
when resources are quite scarce,
is it sensible?

Recompense may come
from unexpected sources.
Or it may not come.

Perhaps the courage,
wrapped in faith, love, and vision
turns into reward.

I'm surrounded by pleas for donations, and I can't give to everyone. I often believe, though, that in giving to these charities, I may one day reap some rewards.
Peace,
Muff

HI JUDY,oh yes, it is the act of giving, random kindness that is its own reward. And I have earned that when we give to some one else it comes back, not necessarily from the person you gave to but from some where else or some one else. It all balances out.
Love to you and great, great poem, wow.

I try to donate my time as well as $$. Resources are scarce though.

Muff, Gail, Sherri, and Karen,

I wrote this poem on a day in which I felt moved to give, even though my financial circumstances are, in Sherri's word, woeful. I so believe in giving, always have, but it is also now more and more an act of faith (hope?) that I will be okay afterwards. I don't know if I will be or not. I do know that in the moment of giving, it feels great.
